A highly regarded and client-focused law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to work closely alongside a Senior Fee Earner on a portfolio of high-value and complex Catastrophic Injury and Clinical Negligence matters.
This role offers a rare opportunity to gain exposure to challenging cases involving significant quantum, complex liability issues, vulnerable clients, and intricate medical evidence. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the progression of life-changing claims while developing their expertise within a high-quality litigation practice.
The position would suit a qualified lawyer or experienced Grade A or B Fee Earner who enjoys intellectually demanding work and is passionate about achieving exceptional outcomes for clients during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Taking initial instructions from clients and preparing draft witness statements.
- Preparing draft Letters of Claim and other pre-action correspondence.
- Managing key dates, court timetables, and procedural deadlines.
- Liaising with medical experts, counsel, clients, and third parties as required.
- Attending conferences with counsel, both remotely and in person.
- Taking witness statements relating to liability and quantum.
- Researching quantum and other legal issues relevant to ongoing matters.
- Preparing court documentation including Claim Forms, Schedules of Loss, Particulars of Claim, and Lists of Documents.
- Instructing and briefing counsel.
- Providing wider legal assistant support as directed by the supervising fee earner.
Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Qualification as a lawyer with the capability to operate at Grade A or B Fee Earner level.
- Experience of, or a strong demonstrable interest in, high-value personal injury litigation, including Catastrophic Injury and/or Clinical Negligence claims.
- Good knowledge of legal practice, litigation procedures, the MOJ Portal, and the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Strong initiative and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate complex and challenging cases.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach towards clients.
- Strong mathematical and analytical ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
