Legal Southwest
Our client, a well-established law firm in Exeter, is seeking a Private Client Legal Assistant to support its growing and busy team. The successful candidate will predominantly work within the Vulnerable Client sub-team, assisting with matters including deputyships, attorneyships and personal injury trusts, while also supporting the wider Wealth Management department with later life planning, wills and estate administration matters.
The Role:
The successful candidate will assist the Vulnerable Client team with a range of administrative responsibilities connected to the Court of Protection costing process. Duties will include arranging bank transfers on behalf of fee-earners, organising and filing post, and, following training, reconciling accounting software to help maintain accurate internal records.
Additional responsibilities will include opening, closing and archiving client files, audio and copy typing, proofreading and updating dictated work, handling client enquiries by email and telephone, document production, retrieving and storing documents such as deeds, and supporting lawyers with general administrative tasks including diary management and initial new client enquiries.
The role requires a professional and proactive individual who can provide effective support to the Wealth Management team, enabling fee-earners to remain organised and work efficiently.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will place client care at the centre of everything they do and will be confident communicating with clients in a professional and empathetic manner. They will be comfortable supporting clients and their families under the guidance of the legal team.
Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous, although applications are welcomed from candidates from a variety of backgrounds. This opportunity may suit an experienced Court of Protection or Vulnerable Client Assistant seeking a new challenge, or a recent graduate looking to begin a rewarding career within the legal sector.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, adaptable and proactive, with strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. They will be able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively while maintaining a calm and sympathetic approach in a busy environment.
Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to prioritise workloads and support colleagues effectively.
The Opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team within a respected firm that is committed to training, development and helping employees reach their full potential.
