An established and forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Data Protection Solicitor or Legal Executive to join its specialist Intellectual Property, Data Protection and Technology team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious lawyer looking to develop their career within a highly regarded practice, advising a diverse client base on complex and evolving data protection matters.

The Role:

The successful candidate will advise clients across a range of sectors, including technology, creative industries, education, healthcare, and the public sector, on a broad spectrum of data protection and privacy matters.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Advising clients on UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, PECR, and related legislation.
  • Drafting and reviewing privacy notices, data processing agreements, DPIAs, and other compliance documentation.
  • Supporting clients with compliance programmes, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Advising on personal data breaches and incident response strategies.
  • Working closely with colleagues on technology, intellectual property, and commercial matters involving data.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the continued growth of the team.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers where appropriate.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Data Protection or equivalent specialist expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU data protection legislation and regulatory guidance.
  • Experience advising organisations on compliance, governance, and risk management.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Commercially minded with a practical and solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Experience gained within a specialist data protection, technology, or intellectual property environment would be advantageous.
