A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced property professional to take on a Head of Property role within a well-established law firm.
This is a senior position offering the chance to lead a busy Residential Property department, manage a varied caseload, and contribute to the strategic direction of the team and wider firm. The successful candidate will join a highly regarded property team with a strong pipeline of quality work and the ability to shape their caseload in line with their expertise and interests.
This role would suit someone looking to take the next step into leadership or further develop their management experience within a supportive and progressive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Residential Property
- Managing a full caseload including:
- Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
- Remortgages and equity release
- Transfers of equity and gifts
- Auction conveyancing
- Lease drafting, renewals, extensions, and variations
- First registrations and transfers of part
Additional Exposure (Desirable)
- Opportunity to be involved in commercial property matters, including:
- Commercial leases (grants, assignments, renewals, terminations)
- Development land transactions
- Option agreements, overage, and joint ventures
- Commercial finance and secured lending
- Agricultural property and business sales
Leadership & Team Responsibilities
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior team members
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including AML and risk procedures
- Working collaboratively with other departments on cross-referrals
- Delivering excellent client care and maintaining strong relationships
- Supporting departmental growth and contributing to management decisions
- Assisting in shaping the future direction of the department
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
- Strong background in residential conveyancing with the ability to manage files independently
- Proven technical knowledge and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Good understanding of AML and compliance requirements
- Commercial awareness and experience working to targets
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience desirable
Experience or interest in commercial property work would be advantageous but is not essential.
