Legal Southwest
On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit an experienced Employment Solicitor to join their Exeter office as part of an expanding Litigation Department. The Litigation team handles a broad range of civil litigation matters and currently consists of ten fee earners supported by a dedicated support team.
This role has been created due to the firm’s plans to grow the employment services it offers, and it presents an excellent opportunity for a motivated employment specialist to take ownership of their own caseload while playing a key role in developing this area of work.
The Role:
The successful candidate will manage their own employment caseload and contribute to the ongoing development of the firm’s employment offering. As this is a growth area within the litigation team, the role will suit someone who is proactive, commercially minded, and keen to develop new work opportunities.
Initially, the position is expected to involve a strong focus on business development activity, helping to build the employment client base and increase referrals.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Managing a varied employment law caseload with minimal supervision
- Taking ownership and responsibility for files from instruction through to completion
- Supporting the growth of employment services within the litigation team
- Participating in the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives
- Identifying and developing new sources of employment work
- Attending client meetings and marketing events, including occasional travel to other offices
- Contributing ideas and actively following through on strategies to develop the department further
Candidate Requirements:
- A Solicitor / Legal Executive employment law experience
- A strong track record in business development
- A client following and/or ability to generate new work
- A willingness to broaden their litigation experience beyond employment law where required
The role will be based primarily in the Exeter office, with the successful candidate expected to be office-based at least three days per week. Hybrid working is available once the candidate has successfully passed probation or is fully integrated into the team. Occasional travel to other offices may be required for client meetings and marketing activities.
