We are working with a well-established regional law firm who are seeking a Criminal Solicitor to join their growing team in Somerset. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, forward-thinking practice with a strong reputation for providing expert representation across the full spectrum of criminal law.
The Role
You will become part of a dedicated criminal law team that offers high-quality advice and representation to clients across Somerset and East Devon. The team covers a wide range of criminal matters, from minor offences to complex, high-profile cases. With a 24/7 service, they pride themselves on being available when clients need them most, offering reassurance and clear guidance during challenging times.
Key Responsibilities:

Advising and representing clients in all aspects of criminal law, including police station representation, Magistrates’ Court, and Crown Court cases.

Managing a varied caseload, from minor offences to more complex, high-profile matters.

Preparing cases, analysing evidence, and developing robust defence strategies.

Liaising with clients, prosecutors, and third parties, ensuring excellent communication and client care.

Working on Legal Aid funded matters, including representation in Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.

Supporting the team in continuing to deliver its strong track record of client-focused, high-quality legal services.
About You
-
Qualified solicitor with any level of PQE (newly qualified to experienced).

Strong knowledge of criminal law and procedure, with the ability to handle a varied caseload.

Excellent advocacy, drafting, and negotiation skills.

Committed to providing exceptional client care, with a supportive and empathetic approach.

Willing to participate in the firm’s 24/7 duty rota as part of the wider team.
