We are seeking a Solicitor for this professional law firm based in Exeter for the highly-rated charities and social enterprise team which advises charities, social enterprises and schools across the South West and across the UK on a broad range of charity law and corporate/commercial issues.
These include advising on formation and registration of new organisations, incorporations and restructurings, governance and constitutional issues, mergers, collaborations, joint ventures and other corporate transactions, charity law compliance, dealings with the Charity Commission, finance, fundraising and trading issues, and general commercial agreements.
The team also works closely with and provides specialist charity law support to other teams within the firm working in the sector, for example on charity law issues arising on property, employment, IP and litigation matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking the day to day management and conduct of charities matters within the team.
You will be NQ to 3 years PQE ideally with experience of charity law and/or corporate and commercial work for charities and social enterprises. You will have a genuine interest in the charity sector and in developing a career in this area.
An ability to work as part of a team both under supervision and independently is essential. Excellent organisational skills will be needed to ensure that you can manage your own workload and support other team members as required. You will be an efficient and accurate worker and will be used to working to deadlines.
Good technical and communication skills, and an eye for detail are essential along with the ability to deliver excellent standards of client care. An interest in business development will be an advantage. We are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds. You may be a qualified solicitor or fellow of CILEx with experience in this area or looking to extend your knowledge profile.
- 23 days holiday per year plus Bank Holidays plus some time at Christmas (this varies every year depending on when the office shuts and is not contractual). The 23 days rises to 24 and then 25 days with service.
