We are currently looking for a NQ – 2yrs PQE Solicitor to join the Commercial Law team at the Exeter office.
In this role you will provide essential support to a senior Partner on a range of non-contentious commercial matters. You will also work with other partners and senior fee earners across the Commercial and IP teams interacting regularly with colleagues in different departments at all of the other locations.
This position includes a wide mix of non-contentious commercial work, from advising on the law, to drafting and negotiating contracts including BTB and BTC terms and conditions, distributor, reseller and other supply chain agreements, R&D agreements, licences and assignments and some data protection. You will also provide support to colleagues in the highly regarded Corporate team on due diligence exercises and warranty schedule work. IP and other commercial law audit work may arise from time to time. Registered rights are handled by the specialist Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys and disputes and opposition work is not part of this role.
You will have regular contact with clients and the network, some of whom are based overseas (particularly in the USA), and you will be expected and encouraged to assist with business development initiatives. You will be expected to have excellent management of client files, working (under partner supervision), to develop your skills in pricing and budget control and case risk management. As a lawyer for the real world you will be technically excellent, highly organised and ambitious with high personal standards. You are personable and eager to learn, have an open mind and look for and create rewarding relationships around you, ensuring that your clients’ needs are always met. You will have some interest in IP and/or information law, and/or the technology and/or the retail sector. Experience in these areas is an advantage, but not essential.
