Our client is the leading developer of UK deep geothermal power and lithium projects. They are pioneering the development of combined geothermal power, heat and lithium production. They are currently in the process of building the first, ever UK power plant powered by renewable energy.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Commercial to join their high-performing team in Cornwall, as they rapidly expand the business.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the COO, this role would be responsible for the development, completion and ongoing monitoring of various commercial activities relating to the Group’s renewables and critical minerals portfolio of, power, lithium and heat projects.
- This would include, Power and Heat Purchase Agreements (both external and intercompany), Contracts for Differences, lithium offtake agreements, metering strategies, Supply chain agreements, joint venture and SPV agreements, various procurements and other commercial matters.
- Act as a representative of the organisation in external networks and forums, raising the profile of the company and alerting internal stakeholders to any changes and opportunities that could affect its work.
- Set up and implement the statutory and regulatory framework for our power and lithium plants in operational mode.
- Be responsible for the Company’s insurance matters.
- Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed.
- Obtain regulatory and other market intelligence to inform strategy.
- Ensure contracts are both technically and commercially compliant.
- Ensure business continuity plans are in place for all contracts.
- Maintain compliance with the law and company policies.
- Present to the Board of Directors as required.
- Work collaboratively with the rest of the team.
Requirements Essential
- Has a deep understanding of the renewable energy and/or critical minerals market in the UK and Europe.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate law, regulatory issues and risk management practices.
- Understands and applies commercial and financial principals.
- Proven track record in establishing and developing long-term joint venture and partnership relationships.
- Interprets business needs and takes decisive, proactive action to achieve the company’s ambitions.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- High degree of direction, self-reliance, assertiveness and the ability to hit the ground running.
- Excellent leadership, time management and organisational skills
Desirable
- The role would suit someone with a legal qualification or background although this would not be essential if they have suitable commercial experience.

- Location: The role will primarily be primarily based in United Downs, Cornwall.
- Standard Hours: 37.5 hours a week.
- Salary: Competitive salary relevant to experience, plus benefits.
