We are excited to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established law firm with a strong presence across Devon and Somerset, known for providing high-quality legal advice with a personal touch. Their Family Department is renowned for its specialist expertise in areas such as divorce, separation, children, domestic abuse, and financial matters arising from relationship breakdowns.
The Role: Our client is seeking an ambitious and experienced Family Lawyer to join their friendly and supportive Family Team, based in Crewkerne with the flexibility to work from other office locations. They are particularly interested in candidates with 8+ years PQE, but those with strong experience in family law who may not meet the PQE threshold are also encouraged to apply.
As a key member of the Family Department, you will contribute to the growth and development of the team, support junior colleagues, and build lasting relationships with clients and referrers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload while playing an integral role in shaping the department’s future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage complex divorce cases, including high-net-worth matrimonial matters, pensions, businesses, inherited wealth, farming cases, and maintenance.
- Handle pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements.
- Advise on private law children and domestic abuse matters.
- Support junior team members through mentoring and supervision.
- Engage in business development activities, building a network of local contacts and referrers.
- Work efficiently and independently, producing your own documents and correspondence using the case management system.
- Travel to different office locations as needed – a full driving licence is essential.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified Family Lawyer with 8+ years PQE (or equivalent experience).
- Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of family law matters.
- Proven track record of business development and community engagement.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across practice areas.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to delivering client solutions.
- Proficiency with case management systems and IT skills.
- Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to compliance with professional standards and firm procedures.
Why Join Our Client?
- Work within a close-knit team that values collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Make a real impact by shaping the department’s future and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Engage with meaningful community-focused work.
- Thrive in a supportive environment where your professional growth is encouraged.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a firm that values long-term relationships – with both clients and colleagues – while offering the chance to develop your career in a friendly and professional setting.
