Legal Southwest
We are seeking two talented and motivated Court of Protection Solicitors to join well-established law firms in Newton Abbot and Plymouth. These roles are ideal for Solicitors with at least 2 years’ PQE who have a strong interest in mental capacity law, and are looking to develop their expertise in a supportive and client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide specialist advice and representation in Court of Protection matters, including deputyship applications, property and financial affairs, and welfare cases.

Draft and manage applications, orders, and reports for Court of Protection hearings.

Act as a trusted adviser to clients, deputies, and other professionals, maintaining strong client relationships.

Liaise with the Official Solicitor, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders as required.

Keep up to date with developments in Court of Protection and related legislation.

Manage your own caseload, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of services.
Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years PQE with proven experience in Court of Protection law (or strong transferable experience).

Strong drafting and advocacy skills.
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-
Ability to manage complex cases and work independently.
-
Commitment to providing excellent client care.
-
Full practising certificate and membership of the Law Society.
