Legal Southwest Ltd
Our client is a dynamic and successful Devon based Law firm. They have had exceptional growth over the past few years and it is now one of the largest practices in the Devon and Somerset area. It has ambitious plans for the future, and these opportunities are perfect for someone seeking to make a mark in the legal world within a vibrant firm and department.
Their highly skilled Care and Capacity team is expanding and is looking for people to join them. They have vacancies in their team based in their brand-new South Devon Hub. They are looking for people who know their way around the Mental Capacity Act and have a good understanding of community care law, but you don’t have to be a qualified lawyer. You could have a background in social work, or care work or have been a carer yourself, for example.
The work the team does is vitally important to protect the rights and freedoms of people who need additional help and support to make decisions affecting their daily lives. This includes making powers of attorney, Court of Protection applications, helping to obtain funding for social care and health care needs and acting as decision makers for those who cannot make their own decisions – as attorneys or deputies. They also provide support and advice to lay attorneys and deputies in those roles.
This is a chance to join a progressive, and professional team who work together in purpose built modern offices which are part of the At Harbourside development in Torquay.
As well as being able to demonstrate that you have the necessary experience and understanding of the law and regulations in this field, you will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for the work and an ability to manage your client’s expectations and to win their loyalty across the whole firm. You will be self-motivated and should also have energy and ambition to progress within the private client department and within the firm.
You will demonstrate empathy and good problem-solving skills.
To this end the successful candidate would also be expected to actively engage in the marketing and practice development work of the private client team. Membership of SfE in relation to the Elderly Client/Court of Protection lawyer role is advantageous, but not essential.
In return you will be joining a friendly close-knit and caring team of lawyers in a down to earth, professional and successful firm. Our client offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits and terms of employment.
